YOUTH RED CROSS(YRC)
YRC has received highest blood donors award consecutively for 5 years. Youth Red Cross is a group movement for students. YRC provides opportunities for voluntary community service. Becoming a Red Cross volunteer is a great way to meet the needy people and help humanity. The volunteers involve in first aid, disaster, health, safety, medical and community services. Blood donation camp is conducted annualy.

Mission
To inspire, encourage community services through training and education and initiate all forms of humanitarian activities at all times so that human sufferings can be minimized and even prevented and this climate for peace.

ACTIVITIES
2017-18
- Conducted an Orientation Programme.
- Conducted First Aid Programme in connection with Lion’s Club. Mr.Elango, President & Mr.Neelakandan, Alert team faculty were the Chief Guests.
- Conducted Blood Donation Camp on 19.12.2017 at our college premises. 252 units of Blood were donated to Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Blood Bank. Dr.V. Lakshmi, Principal and Dr.N.Rajendra Naidu, Director presided the camp.
- Organised Fire and Safety Awareness Programme in association with the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services on 01.03.2018. 100 students participated. Mr.C.Selvaraj, Station Officer, Fire & Rescue Station, Tirur, Tiruvallur District was the resource person.
2016-17
- Youth Red Cross with Rexona India Pvt. Ltd. organised Personality Skills on “Grooming for Interviews” for women students.910 students attended the programme. Mr.Sathish, Hindustan Lever Private Ltd was the resource person. Certificates were distributed.
- Blood Donation Camp was held at our college premises. 129 units of Blood was donated to Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Blood Bank. Mr.Sathya Narayanan, Honorary Secretary & Treasurer (IRCS) was the Chief Guest. Dr.S.Kalpana Bai, Principal and Dr.N.Rajendra Naidu presided the Voluntary Blood camp.
- Short term certificate course on “Bakery Products Making”. The course was conducted in our college premises with the help of KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission). 30 YRC Volunteers took the training. Mr.Rao & Mr.Murugesan, KVIC was the Trainers. Mr.Morari, Retired IAS was the Chief guest for the valedictory function and presided by Honorary Secretary, Principal and Director for Research & Development and distributed the certificates.
- Conducted an Awareness programme on “Health and Hygiene” to the girls students for Shift-1 and Shift-2.
- Conducted the community awareness programme on “Women’s Health” & “Day-to-day Baking Activities”. Dr.Bhavana Mehta, Dr.Republica Sridhar and Dr.N.Rajendra Naidu, Director Centre for Research & Development were the resource persons.
- Conducted an awareness programme on “Health on Wheels and Meals on Wheels” at Trinity Church, Pullarambakkam village, Thiruvallur. Mr. Sakthivel, Director Awards NGO & Dr.Aravind, Prime Health Care Clinic were the resource person.
One day Legal Awareness programme on “Domestic Violence Act, Dowry Prohibition Act and Crimes against Women” jointly organised by Tamil Nadu Federation of Women Lawyers and (RGNIYD). Dr.K.Shantakumari, President, T NFWL, Dr.S.T.Lakshmi Ramesh, Principal Judge Juvenile Justice Board, Mrs.Sumithra Chakkaravarathi, Advocate, High Court Madras and Mrs.Vidhya, Director Thulir were the chief guests.
2014-15
- Blood Donation Camp conducted – 320 units donated to Indian Red Cross Society Blood Our College was awarded the Rolling Shield for highest blood donors for the fifth consecutive year to be awarded by the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
- Organised ‘Bakery Products Making’ training programme for 30 YRC Volunteers with the help of Khadi & Village Industries Commission.Dr K.Sudhakar, Director of KVIC was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function.
- Our college has been awarded with a “Certificate of Appreciation” for the Best Performance in YRC Activities for the year 2014 by Indian Red Cross Society. R.Thandavan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras was the Chief Guest.
- Conducted First-Aid Training Camp. K.Ravi, St.John’s Ambulance was the Trainer. Our Honorary Secretary and Principal inaugurated the training programme.
- Organised a Guest lecture on “True Service”. M.Sivarajan, Former YRC Co-ordinator & Present NSS Programme Officer, Pachaiyappa’s College was the resource person.
- YRC Day was celebrated. Principal, Director for Research & Development presided the function. G.Kothandan, Social Activist and Educationist, Principal & Correspondence, Kings Educational Institution delivered Keynote address and distributed the certificates.
