History

The department of physical education came into existence along with the establishment of the college in 1969. In the beginning it served to groom the sportsmanship of PUC students, Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Directors of the department the department grew from strength to strength. The college has been a haven for the sports lovers and sports persons. Our victories and achievements in sports and games are many.

The accreditation of NAAC in 2006 guided the department in new directions. The form and function of the department changed accordingly. The suggestions of the NAAC peer team has been serving as a guide for more achievements and sustained growth. The establishment of the sports centre inter-college tournaments, indoor stadium, exclusive tournament for women, gymnasium, indoor table tennis and chess are our significant achievements in the recent past. The department has envisaged a vision and steadily works to realize it. The department reaps the benefits of the peer team suggestions and expresses its sincere thanks to NAAC.

Sri M. Venkatesaperumal Garu, our Honorary Secretary, Our esteemed Trustees, Our respected Principal Dr.V.Lakshmi, exercise meticulous care and render all the possible help and guidance for the development of the department. Naturally the department achieves success after success. Dr.N.Rajendra Naidu, Director, R & D, had been a source of inspiration and strength of our achievements. Sri. T. Manohar, Superintendent (Shift – 1) make valuable contributions to the department.

Mr. S,Baskar is the marker of our play fields and tracks. He does his best to conduct the sports events.

The department now submits the report for the perusal of the NAAC peer team and is looking forward to further guidance.
